Weekend in pictures

Happy Monday! Below is my weekend in pictures.
Saturday= Yard Sales with Mom, a park Run and a Lowes trip.
Sunday = Eating and watching TV. I also cooked my first Boston Butt in the oven. Josh looked nervous at first ha.
I went to bed before 10 (maybe even 9) every night this weekend, but I'm still exhausted. Suggestions?

Have a great day!

My first try at an outdoor craft
Willow in her running shorts
I have no idea what she was doing
curly hair...telling me to "go go go!" at Deep Run Park-Saturday Run
Red Face...trying to catch a picture before she runs for the play ground
first go at the Garmin...I love it! Excuse the time...The hills were a little too vertical for me
Overnight Oats- 1/2 cup of old fashion oatmeal, some peaunt butter (okay a lot), a cut up banana, chopped walnuts, and 1% milk..I left it in the fridge and ate it cold at work. Not bad.

2 Flights of Stairs= Soreness

Good morning my friends. I hope everyone is safe. I heard that a little boy who was 8 was killed watching his dad run at the Boston Marathon yesterday. Such a tragedy. So many people were hurt, I hope they find the person(s) responsible for such pain caused.

My work out yesterday = a lot of pain today. It was a pretty hard video, It killed me going up the 2 flights of stairs this morning at work, and even more so when I realized I left my breakfast/lunch in my car and had to do it all over again. In 4 inch heels. Here is the video, try it if you dare:

Sweat!

Despite Willow waking me up multiple times last night and attempting to let her sleep with us (and then waking up to find her playing with my hair), and then putting her back in her own bed; I am not as tired as I would have thought. I'm tired, but not as much. I think exercising really does help with energy. I also would have slept really good after that work out if I hadn't been woken up. But waking up to Willow is never a horrible thing.

One thing I am having an issue with that I haven't before is dry mouth. Water isn't helping, and whenever I eat something (even yogurt) it feels like sand. It might be from my medication (for depression) or dehydration, I'm not sure. But it is driving me nuts! Its really bad this morning. I read to chew gum or to suck on sugar free hard candy to help produce saliva, so I guess I need to find one of those today. Has anyone else had an issue with dry mouth?

Tonight is run night, after I pick up Willow, and I really need to make this one count because Saturday is the Color Me Rad 5k (the whole reason I started running) and its my birthday, so I really want to get a good run in before I rest for that. Wish me luck!

A "Lazy" Run and The Most Terrible Twos

Yesterday Afternoon I ran in the park.
da mo 101 Daily motivation (25 photos)
I completed 2.63 miles in 29.09 minutes at a 11'04" pace. The pace isn't too bad for me but I would have liked to get to at least 3 miles, I just didn't have it in me yesterday, but I will not let myself go under 2.5 miles.

I did try a Click Protien drink afterwards though. I tried the Mocha flavor and that was pretty amazing. I blended it into a frappe type drink. It was gone in no time. When it starts getting warmer out I might even start making that as my breakfast. It gave me a boost too with the expresso shots in it so you know I loved that.

Expresso-Yumminess

I have been avoiding them but I think its time I break out the P90X videos on my no-run days. Starting with tonight. I'll let you know if I make it out alive.

Alert: Rant in 3, 2, 1:

Speaking of making it out alive, I don't know how people survive their child's Terrible Two phase. I LOVE my daughter, but she doesn't not like me right now. She only wants Josh and she will barely let me talk to her in the afternoons. I know she is testing her limits, as well as teething, and I realize that part of it is Josh gives in more than I do. Being a guy, I'm assuming Josh doesn't quite understand that girls will use their weapon of crying/whining/pouting to get what they want, regardless if it is something they need or not. He has that soft spot for a daughter that any father should have. And I have that OMG-why-does-my-daughter-hate-me-guilt that I don't know if its common or not, but I know I inherited it from my mom, shes reminded me of this often.

I know Willow will grow out of it, and don't misunderstand, she is not like this all the time. Just recently she has been very into the "getting her way" thing and lately her way hasn't been the expected way (like playing outside when its 40 degrees and dark)...I can't wait for summer to get here and we can all play outside in the evenings and eat dinner on the back porch.

So, if any lovely mommies out there have any helpful advice, please feel welcome to comment!

Rant Over.

I guess I better get on with my day and do some work, hope you all have a wonderful hump day!

2 Playgrounds, 2 Egg Hunts and Too Much Food!

What happened to the weekend? I seriously thought today was Sunday when I woke up. I was very disappointed.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter, and that you enjoyed time with family and friends!

Saturday went something like this:

Easter Egg Hunting!
  • Mid-Morning Easter Egg hunt at a friend's church, Willow especially loved the story time and songs!
  • Attempt at running at a track with Jessi H, got about 4-5 laps in before Willow tried to get out the stroller
  • 2nd playground of the day, to play on slides too high for Willow and a random lady indirectly calling me overprotective to her husband. (I like my child alive and broken-bone free, thank you.)
  • Cook out at my brother's for our dad's birthday. Willow enjoyed rolling in the grass with her cousins.
  • Roasting marshmallows at the neighbor's house
To say the least it was a busy day! But we had a lot of fun!

Easter Sunday Mom came over and Josh made his "heart stopper" omelets and Willow stole bites from mine and her Grammy's. She also had a cadburry egg filled with Caramel and tons of other candy. We had lunch with Josh's family and another Easter egg hunt. Lunch was awesome and I was so full I didn't eat again until this morning.

I squeezed in a run before Easter Breakfast. 3.12 miles on our road. I finally made it all the way to the end and back! It was a small victory. I also did some ab stuff when I got back since I knew it was going to be food over load after! (I had 2 Cadburry eggs shortly after. Those things are addictive.)

I have been exhausted lately, like I'm ready to go to bed at Willow's bed time. I'm not sure why I've been so zapped. I think I'll take it as a sign that tonight should be a rest night. Hopefully it will help, I'm tired of being tired all the time!
***note: on my lunch break I picked up two packets of that Click expresso protein shake stuff...I'm going to see if that gives me a little boost in the afternoon, starting tomorrow. It looks like itd be awesome for run days!

Well, I thought there were more but apparently not. We both forgot our phones at home yesterday...whoops!

How was your holiday?

It's Her's Day (Thursday)!

Happy Her's Day!

I'm currently munch on a Kashi Go Lean Crisp bar as my mid afternoon snack. I think it might be intended for a meal replacement but if its under 200 calories I usually consider it a snack. I didn't used to like Kashi products but as I've learned more about processed foods and unprocessed foods, I've grown to like their stuff.

Last night I did this 25 minute long ab work out video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=uB_ejT_DgUM

Afterwards I did some free weights (for me that is 4lb weights, FYI because I'm a weenie.). I like to do a squat move and then use the weights to punch left to right and repeat that about 20 times. If you hold your stomach in while doing so you can feel it!

Tonight I am running with my friend Mandy, she and I are running the 5k Saturday so tonight I am hoping to see how we match up with paces and so on. I was told not to "lolli-gag" while I was out ...what does that even mean? I'm pretty sure men "lolli-gag" at friend's houses way more than women. But hey, thats just my opinion.

I have been really working on cutting back diet sodas and processed foods lately. However, my throat feels a little swollen/sickly so I did drink a diet coke earlier. Yes, I know that is not going to help my throat but it was a good enough excuse to have one, right?

I did have a salad for lunch and it was sooo good. I had mixed greens with Stilton cheese (with apricots!) and strips of left over steak topped with raspberry vinaigrette. It was delicious! I'm not really great at making fancy salads so I was proud of this one.

On a different note: Willow is 20 months today! and like I tweeted earlier, in 4 months when she is 2 I will be crying like a baby while she laughs at me like a toddler! Also, she has become quite the Daddy's girl lately. I told Josh I miss my Mommy's girl and he replied "you had her for 9 months, now its my turn!" Last night she would only give Josh kisses, and if I gave Josh a hug she would climb up in his lap and proceed to budge me out of the way with her head, while saying "mine!" I'm sure this is just a phase, right?

Where did my cuddly little baby go?

(This was after we got home after our first post-baby date) I missed her so!

If you have children, what interesting phases did they go through? Do they like to run or do other activities with you?

St. Patrick's Day and New Food

Happy Monday! well...its not happy so much as it is raining/snowing/sleeting mid-March. Where is the warm sunshine??

Friday went well, Mandy and I tie dyed T-shirts for our 5k this coming Saturday. We did one for Willow too, since shes our side line member :)

I came home to the neighbors and their kids outside with Josh and Willow, she was in a swing he had put up for her that day. Well it was anchored about 30 feet in the air (it was secure, but still high!) and he was swinging her as high as he could...if I hadn't had an adult beverage at Mandy's I probably would have had a heart attack when I saw him swinging her! But she was enjoying it, the whole time saying "weeeee!"

Saturday I tried going the 5k distance on my treadmill at a faster than usual pace (5.5mph - 6.2 mph) and it went surprisingly well. I'm still sore today though! It is getting more possible to run farther, and I am absolutely loving it! Back in highschool you couldn't get me to run 1 mile! I did strength training yesterday using 4lb dumb bells and Willow sat on my stomach while I did crunches.

We didn't have the adult day that we had planned on Saturday, so we ended up taking Willow to a local St. Patricks Day festival that was kid friendly. She loved it, went running around everywhere which I am going to say adds to my mileage for that day because I had to chase her everywhere! We all slept a good 12 hours Saturday night. Taking her out Saturday was WAY better than an adult day!

P.S. Am I the last person on Earth to try Nutella?? I had a crepe Saturday with Nutella and strawberries and I almost died from pleasure. So good! Also I picked these up at Kroger yesterday:
1. Mango Salsa (my new fav snack!)
2. Stilton cheese with apricots (yum!)

Have you tried any of these? whats your favorite food?
