Early AM Run and Foooood

da mo 1131 Daily motivation (25 photos)

Good Morning!

I woke up at 4:30 this morning (as we say in the south, "at the a$$ crack of dawn") to run on the treadmill. I ran 3.02 in 35 minutes so not bad.

I tried doing 8 minute abs last night but someone thinks that I am extra fun to sit on while I do this so I didn't get to finish. I did do about 40 squats and then I got about half way through a strength training video (after Willow was asleep) before I received a text from my favorite neighbor saying these were ready:

Stolen from her facebook :)

So, obviously I immediately had to run over there in the dark and eat one, bring back 3 and eat one of those once I got home. I tried to convince Josh I only had one the whole night, but he knew better.

You see why I got up at 4:30? I had to work off a fraction of those calories...so worth it though, those things are delicious!

You know what else is tasty? Overnight Oats with Nutella- Recipe (try it, I swear you'll like it):

  • 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 banana cut up
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 spoonfuls nutella
  • 1/2 (or 2/3, depending on thickness you want) 1% milk
  • some crushed walnuts
  • dash of cinnamon

Mix all of the above together in a mason jar, close it and let it set in the fridge over night. Stir in the morning and eat it right out of the jar (I eat mine cold)...the nutella makes it soooooo good. The flavor reminds me of those no bake cookies that food lion or martins makes.

Well, I better get back to work, I have a whole list of things to get done today! [

Happy Hump Day!

2 Playgrounds, 2 Egg Hunts and Too Much Food!

What happened to the weekend? I seriously thought today was Sunday when I woke up. I was very disappointed.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter, and that you enjoyed time with family and friends!

Saturday went something like this:

Easter Egg Hunting!
  • Mid-Morning Easter Egg hunt at a friend's church, Willow especially loved the story time and songs!
  • Attempt at running at a track with Jessi H, got about 4-5 laps in before Willow tried to get out the stroller
  • 2nd playground of the day, to play on slides too high for Willow and a random lady indirectly calling me overprotective to her husband. (I like my child alive and broken-bone free, thank you.)
  • Cook out at my brother's for our dad's birthday. Willow enjoyed rolling in the grass with her cousins.
  • Roasting marshmallows at the neighbor's house
To say the least it was a busy day! But we had a lot of fun!

Easter Sunday Mom came over and Josh made his "heart stopper" omelets and Willow stole bites from mine and her Grammy's. She also had a cadburry egg filled with Caramel and tons of other candy. We had lunch with Josh's family and another Easter egg hunt. Lunch was awesome and I was so full I didn't eat again until this morning.

I squeezed in a run before Easter Breakfast. 3.12 miles on our road. I finally made it all the way to the end and back! It was a small victory. I also did some ab stuff when I got back since I knew it was going to be food over load after! (I had 2 Cadburry eggs shortly after. Those things are addictive.)

I have been exhausted lately, like I'm ready to go to bed at Willow's bed time. I'm not sure why I've been so zapped. I think I'll take it as a sign that tonight should be a rest night. Hopefully it will help, I'm tired of being tired all the time!
***note: on my lunch break I picked up two packets of that Click expresso protein shake stuff...I'm going to see if that gives me a little boost in the afternoon, starting tomorrow. It looks like itd be awesome for run days!

Well, I thought there were more but apparently not. We both forgot our phones at home yesterday...whoops!

How was your holiday?

St. Patrick's Day and New Food

Happy Monday! well...its not happy so much as it is raining/snowing/sleeting mid-March. Where is the warm sunshine??

Friday went well, Mandy and I tie dyed T-shirts for our 5k this coming Saturday. We did one for Willow too, since shes our side line member :)

I came home to the neighbors and their kids outside with Josh and Willow, she was in a swing he had put up for her that day. Well it was anchored about 30 feet in the air (it was secure, but still high!) and he was swinging her as high as he could...if I hadn't had an adult beverage at Mandy's I probably would have had a heart attack when I saw him swinging her! But she was enjoying it, the whole time saying "weeeee!"

Saturday I tried going the 5k distance on my treadmill at a faster than usual pace (5.5mph - 6.2 mph) and it went surprisingly well. I'm still sore today though! It is getting more possible to run farther, and I am absolutely loving it! Back in highschool you couldn't get me to run 1 mile! I did strength training yesterday using 4lb dumb bells and Willow sat on my stomach while I did crunches.

We didn't have the adult day that we had planned on Saturday, so we ended up taking Willow to a local St. Patricks Day festival that was kid friendly. She loved it, went running around everywhere which I am going to say adds to my mileage for that day because I had to chase her everywhere! We all slept a good 12 hours Saturday night. Taking her out Saturday was WAY better than an adult day!

P.S. Am I the last person on Earth to try Nutella?? I had a crepe Saturday with Nutella and strawberries and I almost died from pleasure. So good! Also I picked these up at Kroger yesterday:
1. Mango Salsa (my new fav snack!)
2. Stilton cheese with apricots (yum!)

Have you tried any of these? whats your favorite food?
